Exam Settings in Blackboard that Help Prevent Cheating In-Person

With the 4th wave of the pandemic falling squarely into the Fall 21 term, the majority of exams and quizzes will likely have been planned for, or may need be moved to, an online, uninvigilated environment. Whereas “authentic assessments” that target higher order learning skills are the preferred method for addressing potential threats to academic integrity, they are not always realistic, given class sizes, teaching loads, and current strains on faculty members resources. In this session, we will cover a range of exam settings in Blackboard that help mitigate potential threats to the integrity of exams and quizzes delivered online. [We will further discuss how to counter some of the negative effects these settings may have on the principles of universal design in learning.]
