Engaging Students in Course Readings: Task-Based Reading and Other Strategies (Online Session) In-Person
Course readings play an integral role in delivering course content and ensuring that lecture time can be devoted to active and engaging instruction, yet most faculty find that many of their students do not read ahead of the lecture. Some estimates even suggest that as few as 20-30% of undergraduate students complete their course readings consistently! In this session, we'll discuss some of the research that sheds light on why even good students struggle to keep up with course materials. Then, we'll cover some strategies you can employ, such as task-based reading, to help more students value and complete their assigned readings.
