Using Midterm Survey to Gauge Your Students' Learning In-Person
While Student Course Evaluation is an effective way for instructors to find out what their students’ experience was like in their courses, it might not be the best channel to assess your students’ learning in a timely manner. Student Course Evaluation is completed just prior to the last day of classes and the results are not accessible by instructors until the final grades are submitted. As a result, information provided in the Student Course Evaluation doesn’t give instructors the opportunity to adjust or modify their teaching to address students’ learning needs.
MacEwan’s new digital learning environment – paskwâwi-mostos mêskanâs has several tools available for instructors to quickly perform a midterm survey to gauge students’ learning. This workshop will include a brief discussion on some sample midterm survey questions and explore three different tools instructors can use to create and deliver the survey.
