Supporting Student Mental Health In-Person
The last few years have seen an explosion in demand for mental health services for students, leaving practitioners struggling to keep up. While therapists and counselors directly support students in mental health crises, instructors can have an important impact too. In this session, we will think through the impact that we as instructors can have on our student's mental health. Understanding the research on student well-being, this session seeks to offer you practical examples of how you can support your students' mental health. We will cover best practices in course design, late assignment and attendance policies, communication, and workload.
