Introduction to Alternative Grading [online] In-Person
Are you frustrated with grading, do you wonder if you’re accurately capturing student growth or just whether they can write exams? This session explores the growing scholarship on alternative grading and offers several approaches and examples you can try in your classroom. These frameworks try to move the emphasis from the grade itself and instead centre evaluative feedback, encourage metacognitive and critical thinking, foster student agency, and create more authentic learning opportunities. From ‘ungrading’ to ‘specifications grading’ to “revise and resubmit exams’ learn about innovative ways to assess student learning.
