Teaching Journeys In-Person

As a teaching-focused institution, MacEwan’s vision is synthesized in the motto “Teaching Greatness”, but one may ask: how can I develop and demonstrate teaching greatness?

CTL is pleased to announce a new program that will explore this question.

Teaching Journeys starts with a 2-day, in-person training in June, when participants will explore pathways to developing teaching greatness. Using the Framework for Teaching Expertise from the Taylor Institute for Teaching and Learning, this training will present five facets of teaching expertise: teaching and supporting learning; professional learning and development; mentorship; research, scholarship, and inquiry; and educational leadership. Furthermore, the training will include discussions surrounding career development and will culminate with the creation of an action plan in which participants will set individual goals for growing their teaching greatness wherever they are in their careers.

Recognizing that teaching expertise develops over time with experience, intentional effort, and reflection, Teaching Journeys continues beyond the June sessions. Instructors who complete the 2-day training will have the opportunity to participate in monthly 1-1 coaching sessions until December. Through these coaching conversations, instructors will benefit from reflecting on their progress and having an accountability partner to ensure they are advancing toward their goals.

Spaces are very limited, so save your spot today.

NOTE: A minimum of 4 participants is required. In the case of low enrollment, the session may be rescheduled.
