Gen AI: Using Copilot in the Classroom (Online) Online

Now available to MacEwan faculty and staff, Copilot (formerly Bing Chat) is a generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tool that can spark your creativity and inspire you to teach in new ways. By joining this session, you will explore the potential of GenAI in teaching and learning.

In this session, you will learn how to use Copilot for various teaching tasks and scenarios:

  • Create text-based content: Formulating prompts that yield high-quality AI outputs for course content such as case studies, lesson plans, quiz questions, rubrics, … etc.
  • Describing images: Provide an image and ask Copilot to write a description of what is in the picture to enhance accessibility and communication of any visuals.
  • Generating images from text: Provide a word, a phrase, or a sentence, and it will create a picture that fits your input.
  • Summarizing articles: Provide an article or a link to a webpage and ask Copilot to generate a short summary.

Copilot is based on the same AI models and data as ChatGPT-4, but it also has the advantage of accessing current internet data for real-time responses to current events. Copilot ensures the privacy and security of the data we provide, as it does not store, share, or use it to train the underlying language model. This makes Copilot a safe and dependable option for using GenAI in teaching and learning.
