Trauma-informed pedagogy for student engagement In-Person
Bell Let’s Talk Day was in January, so this month it is a good time to keep the momentum of attention on student wellness for teaching and learning. In the Mental Health Research Canada (MHRC) October 2024 report, A Generation at Risk: The State of Youth Mental Health in Canada, the conclusions pointed to rising challenges for youth wellness. While educators are not expected to replace the services of counselling professionals, there are frameworks for teaching and learning that educators can apply to support quality learning experiences for students. Trauma-informed pedagogy is one such framework that educators can adapt to their teaching contexts to help students maintain engagement and meet their learning goals.
