Drawing as a Learning Tool [in person] In-Person

In this session, we will explore the incredible potential of drawing as a tool for learning and creative expression. This workshop will delve into two approaches to using drawing as a means of taking notes and communicating ideas. The first is the Sketchnotes method, and the second will draw on Lynda Barry's research and book "Syllabus" (2020). We will delve into the cognitive and neurological aspects of drawing, examining how it can improve memory, comprehension, and critical thinking skills.  diverse techniques for integrating drawing into their classrooms to promote active engagement and deeper learning. Participants will learn some basic methods to integrate these approaches in your classroom through note-taking, assessment, and group activities that use drawing. No prerequisites for "artistic talent" are required, both of these approaches lean into the idea that you can be a "bad drawer" and still benefit from these tools.
