Lessons from Trauma-informed Pedagogy for Feedback Practices In-Person
Feedback is one of the most powerful pedagogical tools we have, yet it can also be one of the most fraught. How have you used feedback practices to foster student learning and confidence in your courses? Drawing lessons from trauma-informed pedagogy and relational teaching practices, this session invites educators to reimagine feedback as an act of care, safety, and empowerment. Together, we will explore how principles such as trust, transparency, choice, and collaboration can transform feedback from a site of stress into a site of growth for learners. Participants will reflect on their own feedback approaches, consider the emotional and cognitive dimensions of learning, and develop strategies to ensure that feedback supports students’ resilience, confidence, and belonging.
