Developing and Assessing Intercultural Competence [In Person]

Developing and Assessing Intercultural Competence [In Person] In-Person

The aim of this session is to foster a deeper understanding of intercultural competence as both a personal and professional practice within higher education. Participants will engage in a discussion of ways to conceptualize their own intercultural competence and consider established approaches for assessing it in educational contexts. The session will highlight the developmental nature of intercultural learning, emphasizing that competence is not a fixed outcome but an ongoing process of growth in knowledge, skills, and attitudes.

Through guided reflections, participants will be invited to connect their intercultural self-understanding to their broader professional and teaching goals. This reflective work will serve as a foundation for aligning personal values with pedagogical choices, thereby preparing participants for the next stage of the program. By the conclusion of the workshop, participants will have both an expanded awareness of their intercultural positioning, and insights into assessment approaches, positioning them to engage meaningfully with the pedagogical focus of Level 2.
