Students as partners in course design In-Person
What would it look like if we invited students to help shape their learning experiences? This session explores a partnership approach to course design that moves beyond consultation toward meaningful collaboration. Grounded in the breadth of insight from Students-as-Partners (SaP) and co-creation in higher education, we will examine how shared decision-making can deepen engagement, strengthen motivation, and enhance learning outcomes for both students and faculty. Together, we will:
* Clarify what partnership is—and what it is not
* Identify entry points for inviting student voice into syllabus development, assessment design, and learning activities
* Consider practical strategies for negotiating power, responsibility, and accountability
Whether you are curious about small shifts such as co-creating discussion norms or more substantial redesign such as assessment frameworks, this session offers tools to help you begin. When students are positioned as collaborators, the classroom goes beyond a transactional site of delivery. It becomes a shared learning space for both faculty and students.
