Reflecting on 150 Years of Treaty No. 6 In-Person
August marks the 150th anniversary of Treaty No. 6, signed at Fort Carlton on August 23, 1876, and at Fort Pitt on September 9, 1876.
This display highlights the ongoing significance of Treaty 6 - and of treaties in Canada more broadly - as living agreements between First Nations and the Crown. Because the Crown entered Treaty on behalf of settlers, everyone living on Treaty territory is connected to these agreements and to the responsibilities they carry.
We invite you to learn more about Treaty, particularly Treaty No. 6, and to consider its continuing roles in shaping relationships among humans, communities, and land.
