Wayfinding for the First Day In-Person
Wayfinding refers to the process of orienting oneself and moving with purpose through space, especially in environments that are complex or new. It involves practical strategies such as using landmarks, paths, or directions and internal capacities such as pattern recognition, memory, and sensing when something feels “off”. Students benefit from help with wayfinding on their first day and week, in a course or a new program. But this session is about strategies for your own wayfinding as an instructor. In this session I'll share some of my tried and tested (and well-honed) strategies for teaching a new course or a new group of students to be able to start off the year with confidence and orientation.
