Teaching Philosophy 2.0: Designing an Authentic Statement That Reflects Who You Are (with Jenn Danko) In-Person
Many teaching philosophy statements begin as generic documents shaped by templates, external expectations, or departmental conventions. While this is common early in an academic career, experienced instructors often benefit from revisiting these statements to better reflect their evolving teaching identity, values, and educational philosophy.
In this one-hour session, Jenn Danko shares how she transformed an adequate teaching philosophy into an authentic teaching framework grounded in intentional design and years of teaching experience. Through her review and revision process, along with before-and-after examples, participants will explore practical strategies for rethinking their own teaching philosophy statements. The session will also highlight how the Centre for Teaching and Learning can support instructors in developing teaching philosophies that are more meaningful, reflective, and aligned with their practice.
This session will be held in person in 7-269.
