Teaching Essentials - Mid-Term Assessment and Feedback Without the Overwhelm In-Person

Mid-term brings a wave of grading, student questions, and difficult conversations. This session gives you strategies to handle it with confidence. We'll cover efficient approaches to grading, using rubrics to save time and improve consistency, and giving feedback students will actually read and use. We'll also talk through common mid-term situations, such as grade appeals, extension requests, academic integrity concerns, and students who are struggling, along with the MacEwan supports available to you and your students.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • Apply time-saving strategies for grading and feedback
  • Use rubrics to clarify expectations and streamline marking
  • Respond to common student concerns with clarity and care
  • Connect students to campus supports and know where to turn for your own
