SUMMARY:Essential Questions [In person]
DESCRIPTION:From icebreakers to in-class discussions\, to assignments and
formal assessments\, there’s no denying that questioning is a fundamental
instructional strategy\, learning activity\, and assessment procedure for
student engagement. \n\nSome questions elicit “an answer” and others
open spaces for deeper learning and engagement. Guided by the work of Jay
McTighe and Grant Wiggins\, we will look at the characteristics of
essential questions to help us decide when convergent questions are
appropriate and when divergent questions can strengthen student engagement
and learning. \n\n* For this session\, come with 1-2 questions from either
your course outlines\, or textbooks\, or lesson plans\, for discussion.
